Best Star Tattoo Ideas and Meanings

Star tattoos are some of the most popular tattoos in both males and females. Some of them like the small twinkling stars tattoo look very feminine while others like the nautical stars are very masculine.

People who chose star tattoos have different reasons. For some people, they only like the appearance of star tattoos on one particular part of their body. For others, they relate themselves or their lives to the meanings of star tattoos.

One basic meaning of star tattoos is that the wearer wants to achieve something, like a goal, and the tattoo is a reminder that he should never give up to get what he wants. It shows the wearer's determination to reach his goals.

Another very basic meaning is the wearer's interest in anything related to astronomy. The wearer must have been very interested in this subject that he wants other people to identify him as someone who likes to know about the heavens and heavenly bodies whenever they look at his tattoo.

Also, star tattoos could mean a very significant point or event in the wearer's life. Maybe the wearer joined a new religion, got married, decided to change his ways, and so on.

These are some basic meanings of star tattoos. Now, if you want to get one for yourself, here are some star tattoo ideas that you can use for your own tattoo.

Nautical Stars. A long time ago, when compass has not yet been invented, sailors use the stars to navigate. These ancient sailors used to wear nautical star tattoos to guide them during their journeys and long voyages. This was a superstitious belief back then. But now, that tradition carried on and whenever you see somebody sporting a cool nautical star tattoo, ask him the reason for that and he will most likely answer something like this: the star is something that guides him to go to the right direction or create the right path in his life.

Shooting Stars. This tattoo could mean a short yet very significant event that happened in a person's life but it changed his or her life greatly. It could symbolize a short romance, a person, a job, or anything that made an impact in the wearer's life.

The Star of David or Hexagram. If you adhere to Judaism's doctrine, then you might be interested in getting a hexagram tattoo. Hexagrams can also be used by people who do not believe in Judaism but believe in the interconnection of humans and the Divine.

Pentagram. This is a five-pointed star that could mean different things. For one, the four points can symbolize the four elements-water, earth, wind, and fire-and the point at the very top is the spirit that the four elements have.

These are just some examples of popular star tattoo ideas. You can think outside the box and create your own design with your own special meaning.

Star tattoos can be placed in different parts of the body depending on your gender. Choose the best design that you want with the corresponding meaning and the location where you want it to be placed to have the perfect star tattoo.

Ear Tattoos

Tattoo trends come and go over the years and it is always interesting to see what the next tattoo trend will be. Here lately it seems that the latest tattoo trends seem to be geared more towards woman. Maybe it's because woman are tending to get more tattoos these days than men. In any case woman are constantly coming up with unique ways to have a tattoo but also have it in a place where it can be covered up if need be. The most popular tattoo location for woman hands down is the lower back. This location is very easy to cover up and it is also sexy. However, a new trend is emerging for women. The new trend is to have a tattoo on your ear or behind your ear.

Why Are Stretched Earlobes So Popular?

According to archaeological findings, earlobe stretching has been popular for many millennia, so why has it been such an enduring means of ear decoration?

Or have earlobes always been stretched just for decoration, or have there been other more occult reasons for this practice. It certainly appears that in regions of Africa, South America and Asia, earlobe stretching has been a tribal practice, and that stretched earlobes were not always just a sign of affiliation to a specific tribe or religion, but also of power or supremacy.

The practice may also have been associated with quasi-religious beliefs, and a necessity to stretch ones earlobes in order to conform to the social and religious practices of the day. In other words, it was expected of people, whatever the reason, and that might also be a driving force for those seeking ear stretching today.

The Influence of Tattooing

Another reason for the increase in the popularity of stretched earlobes is the way that tattooing has now become ubiquitous among young people today, with most having a tattoo somewhere, and many sporting half or full 'sleeves. Tattooing was something originally done by westerners who traveled the world - in other words, sailors, who were exposed to this form of bodily decoration.

However, it became popular among the aristocracy during the 19th and early 20 the centuries, and then commonplace with young people as a means of bodily adornment until everybody that wanted it was having a tattoo anywhere on their body. It is no longer a visible sign of being different or 'modern', and neither are ordinary piercings, even of the tragus, septum, eyebrow or lips which are also commonplace in the 21st century.

Stretched Earlobes - A Matter of Degree

Today, ear stretching can be used as a fashion statement more than any simple piercing or tattoo, and stretched earlobes are another step onwards from the traditional ear piercing that extended into multiple piercings and then piercings of other parts of the body. One aspect of earlobe stretching is that it can be carried out in degrees.

That means that while one person may have a 4 gauge stretching at around 5 mm, another can have a 00 gauge at just over 10 mm. So it is not just 'I have a pierced earlobe and so have you', but I have stretched ears and 'Mine is larger than yours'.

It is no longer being a 'dedicated follower of fashion' but by how much! Stretched earlobes are popular not only because they display a willingness to adopt this new fashion trend, but that it can be adopted to degrees. In fact, the highest gauge is 20 g at 0.81 mm while the lowest is 00g at 10.4 mm.

As the gauge number reduces, the size of the hole increase. After 00 gauge sizes increase in mm or inches, so theoretically there is no maximum although most gauge charts show up to 1 inch or even 30 mm.

Is It Safe?

Is ear gauging safe? The short answer is yes, if carried out under hygienic conditions and instructions are followed correctly. The safest way is have your stretched earlobes done by a professional, using hygienic tools and practices. However, you can do it yourself if you are aware of the dangers and understand the procedures to follow.

Some of the problems associated with ear stretching are:

There is a point after which the hole in your ear will not return to normal. That varies according to your own physiology and the way the stretching has been carried out.

You can suffer a 'blow-out' when the flesh of your ear will blow out and extend beyond skin level. This can be dangerous and disfiguring.

If you decide at a later date that you no longer want this large hole in your earlobe, maybe for work or some other reason, reconstructive cosmetic surgery is very expensive. Not all employers appreciate these adornments, particularly when dealing with certain sectors of the public. It may be small-minded of them, but that's irrelevant.

What Jewellery Can I Use?

Forget the small-minded people and get some fabulous jewellery for your stretched piercing. Among the jewellery available for stretched earlobes are some beautiful flesh tunnels and plugs that can be adorned with any precious or decorative stones of your choice. There seems to be a lack of genuine precious stones for ear stretchings, and diamond, emerald or ruby jewellery is not easy to find.

However, there are loads of glass, stainless steel and plastic plugs and flesh tunnels, including many decorated with genuine amber and this is one reason why stretched earlobes are so popular Most people tend to tolerate organic or glass ear jewellery in the early days of their stretching, after which they can go on to silver, and even specially made platinum or gold plugs and flesh tunnels.

Stretched earlobes are popular in the 21stcentury because they are a step onwards from normal piercings, and with tattoos so ubiquitous there are few ways for young people to express their individuality. Stretched piercings is one way, and stretched earlobes are currently considered one of the safer forms of gauged piercings.

Name Tattoo Designs, Thinking of Getting One?

Thinking of getting a name tattoo designs? Then you might ask yourself, or your friends and family might ask you, why do you want to get a tattoo? You may have a lot of reasons. It may be to express your individuality as a person that you want to be different than most people. It may also be to express your artistic tendencies, wherein you want art to be even part of your body. It may be also for very simple reasons, an example of which is to impress your friends or someone you like. You might also want to look cool and intimidating, as there is no doubt; tattoos give off the impression that you are dangerous and tough. If you are also part of chopper biker gang, you are required to put tattoos in your body. The same is for the Yakuza or other gangs or underground organizations, where tattoo becomes a mark that signifies their membership in the organization.

For all the people who are serious in putting or engraving tattoos in their bodies, it becomes a way of life. It becomes the expression of their different personalities, which can be in a lot of different illustrations and drawings of the tattoos. Some of these designs include dragons, tribal images, or other symbols which may have relevance to the person or maybe simply, they found the design cool or impressive.

Another popular tattoo today is in the form of name tattoo designs. This means engraving or writing words, in this case, names of person, things, or organizations as tattoos in the body of the one being tattooed. The name tattoos designs can contain the name of the one being tattooed. It can also include names of important people or loved ones of the one being tattooed such as his or her family members, important friends, a lover or spouse, a child or even children, or even his or her pets. It can be also the names of things which may have a deep importance to the one getting the name tattoo design. For example, for chopper biker gangs, it can be the name or model of their motorcycle, which they are proud to display. Name tattoos designs can also be to indicate the respective membership of the person in his gang, organization, or association, including the name of the organization or the branch of chapter he belongs to.

There can be more personal reasons why you want a name tattoo design in your body. Having a name engraved in your own body, can be one of the engaging or sweetest someone can do for a loved one. Since a tattoo practically becomes permanent which cannot be removed that easily, it is somewhat saying that you are forever dedicated or devoted to that particular person. A name tattoo design can also be used to commemorate the memory of someone you lost. There are people who, when they lost their loved ones to an accident or sickness, would engrave a tattoo for that person. This means that they will forever remember or honour the memory of the deceased loved one.

So, how does one get a name tattoo design? There are a number of steps you should follow to ensure that the tattoo will be perfect and just as you pictured it would look. First, look for a skilled tattoo artist since engraving a name tattoo design demands extreme artistic skill. You can do this by asking around from friends or other people who have tattoos of someone who can off the job you need. Second, draft your own name tattoo design or ask someone who can. You need this so you can let the tattoo artist know what design do you want.

No I don't personally have a tattoo, but I do have a teenage daughter whom does want one and rather than fight her I prefer to have a look around and see what is out there. If we can understand what tattoos really mean and find a spiritual or family meaning here well that makes a difference. Anyway good or bad, right or wrong here is an insight into tattoos (especially for girls!)

Breast Cancer Tattoos - Can You Get One?

We all know about tattoos that we adorn on our bodies for decoration, aesthetic and ceremonial purposes. Having a tattoo on your body is a way for many people to actually show who they are. However not all of us are so lucky. Some of the tattoos inscribed on our bodies have some other meanings. Medical tattoos are usually inscribed on someone's body to indicate that they are suffering from a disease that could require urgent medical attention at any given moment. They may also be used to hide scar marks on a person's body.
